Ohio State, LSU Conquerors Don’t Impress

The teams that handed Ohio State and LSU what appeared to be their season-ruining losses at the time both got emasculated in the bowls. Illinois appeared to knock LSU out of contention but were humiliated by USC in the Rose Bowl. LSU’s dreams appeared to be dashed by a powerful Arkansas team, but the Hogs didn’t show up against Missouri in the Cotton Bowl.

In the bowls overall, Ohio State and LSU opponents were just OK in the bowls. LSU played 8 teams that bowled, and those clubs went 5-3 straight up, 4-4 against the spread. Ohio State’s 6 bowl opponents had a 3-3 record both straight up and to the number. No real edge either way.

Plenty more BCS Championship Game coverage all weekend up until game time on Monday.

NFL Playoff Weather Looks Iffy

Back from a holiday blogging break with a look at some NFL playoff weather. Tampa will be fine, but weather looks to be a potential issue in Seattle, Pittsburgh, and (believe it or not) San Diego.

Seattle on Saturday: 80% chance of rain during the game, 20-30 MPH winds. Keep an eye on this one.

Pittsburgh on Saturday Night: Possible showers, 40 degrees or so, 10 MPH winds. You might want to make sure the forecast doesn’t get much worse than that.

San Diego on Sunday: Low to mid-50’s, possible showers, 30% chance of rain. They’re lucky this game isn’t being played on Saturday, which looks uncharacteristically windy and wet in American’s Finest City.

Weather.com and WeatherUnderground are good places to keep up with this.

We’ll have plenty more on the NFL playoffs in the next couple of days.
